Shorty Mitchell

Shorty Mitchell has served on the Taylor ISD Board of Trustees since 2005 and currently serves as Board Vice President. A longtime Taylor community leader, he was recognized as the 2010 Taylor Rotary Club Citizen of the Year for his commitment to service.

Mitchell has dedicated decades to supporting young people through athletics and community organizations. He served as President of the Taylor Pop Warner Football and Cheerleaders Association for 22 consecutive years, Vice President of the Central Texas Pop Warner Football and Cheerleaders Association for more than 17 years, and Southwest Region Football Commissioner for more than 10 years. His community involvement has also included the Taylor Parks and Recreation Board, MLK March and Celebration, Kiwanis Youth Basketball League, Athletic Booster Club, and Chamber of Commerce Stomp and Holler event.

Professionally, Mitchell serves as an auto glass sales manager for Floyd’s Glass Company. He and his wife, La’ Nell Griffin Mitchell, are proud parents of four graduates, including two Taylor High School graduates, and grandparents of 17. Four of their grandchildren are currently enrolled in Taylor ISD schools.
