United States Army Child and Youth Services

United States Army Child and Youth Star LogoChild and Youth Services offers programs to support children from birth to adulthood.  Services such as Child Development Centers and School Age Centers are designed to support parents by caring for children to decrease mission and Family conflict.  Other services, such as the School Liaison Officer, provide transition support services to assist parents and youth with relocation and deployment transitions by connecting Schools, Families and Communities.  Youth Programs provide after school and summer activities for youth, helping to connect military-connected youth to each other and their communities.

Youth Sponsorship provides relocation youth with a sponsor at their new duty station prior to their arrival. The program is offered through the youth centers and the schools, allowing youth to ask questions to peers about their new community, helping to reduce anxiety and to increase resilience.  Youth Sponsorship requests are processed by the School Liaison Officer in the community you are moving to.  To access the request form contact the School Liaison Officer in your current community or visit Army Services Webpage, select the community you are moving to , select Child and Youth Services, and then select School Liaison Officer.

Services, and then select School Liaison Officer.

CYS also offers the CSF2 Teen Resilience program.  Similar to the resilience program offered to Soldiers and Families, the teen resilience program is designed to help teens build skills that will foster resilience.  The curriculum mirrors that of the Solider and Family Resilience programs offered through the unit and ACS helping to create a common language  for Families regarding resilience.  Contact your School Liaison Officer or your Youth Programs to find out more information.

Behavioral Health

Soldiers and Family members are eligible for services through Army Behavioral Health.  Services include short- and long-term counseling.  The Child, Adolescent and Family Behavioral Health System serves at the Army Surgeon General’s lead agent for developing, implementing and sustaining programs that promote healthy, strong children and Families.  Clinicians use evidence-based interventions and training programs to promote resiliency and adaptive ways of coping with military life stressors.  The Embedded Behavioral Health program places clinicians at the unit as single point of entry to behavioral Health care for Soldiers.  The Marriage and Family Therapy Program is designed to reduce stress and conflict that presents in couples and Families. Tele-Behavioral Health allows clincians to deliver clinical behavorial health services via secure clinical video-teleconferencing.
